In the deep solitude of central Nevada, these charcoal ovens rise from the desert like echoes of another age. Built for labor and later linked to outlaw legend, they carry a history that feels especially powerful beneath the night sky. What moved me most was the contrast between their warm illumination and the cool, immense darkness around them. As the Milky Way stretched overhead and the ovens stood in quiet procession, the scene felt suspended between past and present.
