This area in the New Mexico badlands has some of the most unusual natural features that I’ve ever seen. The whimsical hoodoo in the foreground was painted with light to accentuate its delicate lattice structure. It appears to be straining to support the huge boulder that rests upon it as though it could collapse at any moment. Some of its oddly shaped neighbors are included in the background to reinforce the curious nature of this place. The summer Milky Way rises high above the horizon adding interest in the sky. The cool sky colors contrast nicely with the warm earth tones of the land features.
